CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE The Evolution of Man 10-10-08
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
In nearly 11 million American homes, theres one obvious place to look for the man of the house when the trash needs to be taken outcheck the Man Cave. The 2008 National Man Cave Survey, released by Bill Me Later, surveyed approximately 1,000 consumers to find out the lifestyle and habitats of Man Cave dwellers.
A Man Cave typically describes a room that includes male-centric décor and is used for entertaining. Popular Man Cave contents include large screen televisions, surround sound, gaming consoles, sports memorabilia, mini refrigerators and other items that have been banned from main living areas of the home by wives and girlfriends.
Other survey highlights include: -Man Cave a preferred room in the house - Nearly half of all Man Cave dwellers spend more than 11 hours a week in their Man Cave with 24 percent of respondents (equaling 2.4 million Americans) spending more than 20 hours a week in their Man Cave. -Top Man Cave activities -While watching sports is the most popular Man Cave activity, 15 percent of Man Cave dwellers also use it to hide from their spouses and responsibilities. -A good Man Cave is a serious investment - More than 10 percent of respondents with Man Caves have spent more than $10,000 furnishing their Man Caves with everything from flat screen plasma TVs to pool tables.
