CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Economic Recovery? 09-22-09
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
This past week several studies have been released forecasting a return to an economic recovery for California.
UCLA’s Anderson School of Forecasting identified that the California’s economy won’t see any major recovery until the end of 2010 or early 2011, but unemployment rates will still remain in double-digit territory illustrating that the state's jobless rate will jump to 12.2 percent later this year — up from 11.9 percent in July — and will continue in double digits into 2011. Of interest, UCLA’s forecast has already been achieved as the state’s unemployment hit 12.2 percent for august.
In yet another report by IHS Global Insight - based in Lexington , Mass, illustrates that San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose will not start to recover until 2012. And that Sacramento, Riverside and San Bernardino will not see a recovery until 2013. And Los Angeles is not expected to recover until 2014.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
