Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

UC San Diego’s CONNECT has developed a new program, The La Jolla Research &
Innovation Summit.   It is a closed meeting to showcase San Diego research excellence
to an exclusive group of 50 out-of-town venture capitalists.

With over forty research institutes in San Diego, the pace of discovery continues to
accelerate, creating new business opportunities. Scientists from the region’s elite
research institutions will share their vision on where the research is heading in the
areas in which San Diego excels.

CONNECT is also inviting an equal number of local VCs to attend so that local connections
can be made. The program will take place April 2-3, 2009.The Summit will showcase 20
presentations in four panels, including clean tech, biotechnology, IT and wireless technology
and convergence innovation,
