CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Most Unhappy Cities 03-16-09
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Business Week released its list of Americas Most Unhappy Cities. The list was compiled utilizing a methodology based upon the highest know rates of depression, suicide rates, crime, divorce and cloudy days.
Only one city in California made the top twenty- Sacramento. Suspicion has it that it ranked high because it is depressing for area residents given that they were the most impacted by the dialy news of state politicos in completing a budget. But as for the other categories, it seems strange given that Stockton is ranked as the Most Miserable City in the nation and they were not ranked. It appears a new positive attitude has emerged illustrating that people can be happy living in what others rank as the most miserable place in America.
In the meantime, Portland, Oregon was named the Most Unhappy City in the nation followed by St. Louis, New Orleans, Detroit, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Nashville, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Sacramento, Kansas City, Pittsburg, Memphis, Indianapolis, Louisville, Tucson and Seattle
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
