Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Fortune Magazine ranked 363 of the worlds companies into a list entitled: Worlds Most
Admired Companies. Out of the list, 273 are from the United States. In terms of rankings,
the Golden State has the highest number of companies on the list from any state with 38.
California is followed by New York with 31, Texas with 22, Illinois 19, New Jersey 16,
Minnesota and Ohio both with 11, Florida and Michigan both with10.
Cupertino-based Apple ranked #1 on the list. It was followed by Google at #4 as the two
companies from California ranking in the worlds top ten.
Also on the list from California are Walt Disney, Unified Grocers, DaVita, CB Richard Ellis Group,
KB Home, Northrop Grumman, Occidental Petroleum, Reliance Steel and Aluminum, Robert Half
International, Google, Intuit, Hewlett-Packard, Jacobs Engineering, Safeway, Electronic Arts,
Qualcomm, SAIC, Sempra Energy, Charles Schwab, Levi Strauss, McKesson, VISA, Wells Fargo,
Adobe Systems, Cisco Systems, eBay, Chevron, Ingram Micro, Applied Material, Intel, Nvidia, Sun
Microsystems, Seagate Technology, Juniper Network, NetApp and Amgen.
