Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Portland, Oregon is the nation’s ‘Most Unhappy City, according to the annual Business Week survey and no California cities made the list.
The survey focused on the rates of depression, suicide, unemployment and crime in 50 major cities to create their list. Divorce rates, population loss, weather and green space were also factored in.
Portland came in first due to the highest depression rate and a large number of cloudy days per year, followed by St. Louis with the highest crime rate. Jacksonville, Fla., had the second highest depression rate despite its warm weather, while the highest suicide rate was found in Las Vegas.
