Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The nation’s international trade deficit in goods and services decreased to $44.8 billion down from $51.6 billion in June as exports increased and imports decreased. Exports were $178 billion and imports were $222.8 billion.
California exports decreased from the previous month to $13.125 billion with a year to date total of $90.5 billion. The state’s exports had a gain of 10.9% over the $11.86 billion in the same period in 2010. The state’s imports were $30.2 billion for the month with a year to date total of $194.9 billion.
California remains the second largest in combined export/import activity in the nation. Texas is first in exports and in combined export/import activity.
