Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
How big is the clean economy in the nation? According to a report by the Brookings Institute entitled “Sizing the Clean Economy: A National and Regional Green Jobs Assessment,” it is large and growing and California and its metropolitan areas are a key reason for its rapid growth and size.
California is the lending state in the nation with the largest labor force involved in clean industry. Los Angeles-Long Beach- Santa Ana is the second largest Metropolitan Statistical Area for clean jobs.

The report examined the Top 100 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas in the nation. For the rest of California, Sacramento would be the third largest in the state with 37,319 followed by San Diego at 22,862, Riverside-Ontario- San Bernardino with 22,532, San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara with 18,868, Fresno with 9,301, Oxnard-Thousand Oaks- Ventura with 3,446, Bakersfield with 3,097, and Modesto with 2,688
