CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Resilient Regions 07-12-11
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
How easy is it for a region to respond to local and national challenges? The Resilience Capacity Index, (RCI) is a tool that provides insight on what regions are best suited to respond to such challenges according to the Institute of Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley.
The Index looks at economic capacity, socio demographic capacity and community connectivity capacity. The index ranks regions in five categories: very high, high, medium, low and very low.
TOP TEN MOST RESILIENT REGIONS 1. Rochester, MN 2. Bismarck, ND 3. Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN 4. Barnstable, Town, MA 5. Dubuque, IA 6. Cedar Rapids, IA 7. Appleton, WI 8. Boulder, CO 9. Worcester, MA 10. Washington DC – Arlington-Alexandria
It appears that if you want to be resilient you will need a snow shovel.
