Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The annual “Best Places for Business and Careers by Forbes.com illustrates this year that California cities are far from the best.
The rankings incorporate the cost of business, job growth and education achievement. Unfortunately for California, no city made it into the top 25.
Texas and Colorado cities make up 50 percent of the top ten. Texas cities make up 25 percent of the top 20.
Of interest, Salt Lake City typically a perennial favorite of most business rankings was usurped by its in state competitors of Provo (3rd) and Ogden (21).
TOP TEN FOR BUSINESS & CAREERS, 2011 1. Raleigh, NC 2. Des Moines, IA 3. Provo, UT 4. Lexington, KY 5. Fort Collins, CO 6. Nashville, TN 7. Austin, TX 8. San Antonio, TX 9. Denver, CO 10. Dallas, TX
San Jose (35) was ranked the highest of California cities. It was followed by San Francisco at 37, San Diego at 64, Riverside at 99, Santa Rosa at 103, San Luis Obispo at 108, Santa Ana at 109, Los angeles at 11, Oxnard at 118, Oakland at 122, Santa Barbara 129, Santa Cruz at 153, Bakersfield at 164, Fresno at 179, Sacramento at 180, Vallejo at 192, Salinas at 193, Visalia 194, Stockton at 196, Modesto at 197 and Merced at 200.
