Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The Washington D.C. – based Corporation for Enterprise Development released their Assets and Opportunities Scorecard for 2009-2010. It is a comprehensive look at wealth, poverty and the financial security of families in the United States. The Scorecard assesses the 50 states and the District of Columbia on how well residents are faring and what states can do to help residents build and protect assets.
The Scorecard examines 5 issue areas in Financial Assets and Incomes; Business and Jobs; Housing and Homeownership; Healthcare and Education.
While California received an overall grade of ’C’ it received an ‘A’ for the issue area of Business and Jobs. The Scorecard’s Businesses & Jobs Issue Area assesses the level of access American households have to business ownership and quality job opportunities by state.
California joins an elite group comprised of 9 states that also includes Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Wyoming, Colorado, Hawaii and Alaska
