Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
California cities comprise four of the “Top 10 Richest Counties” by collective “Total Personal Income” (TPI) in the nation, according to a report by the online publication Business Journals using a database from the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
TPI is defined as the income received by all people from all sources in a given year. It covers everything from employment wages to Social Security and welfare payments. THE TOP 10 RICHEST COUNTIES BASED ON TOTAL PERSONAL INCOME:
1. Los Angeles County, $402.46 billion 2. Cook Co., IL, $244.06 billion (Chicago) 3. Harris Co., TX, $196.78 billion, (Houston) 4. New York Co., NY, $171.95 billion (Manhattan) 5. Orange County, $148.37 billion 6. Maricopa Co., AZ, $142.01 billion, (Phoenix) 7. San Diego County, $139.58 billion 8. Dallas, Co., TX, $111.32 billion (Dallas) 9. King Co., WA, $109.05 billion, (Seattle) 10. Santa Clara County, $99.55 billion
