California cities comprise four of the “Top 10 Richest Counties” by collective
“Total Personal Income” (TPI) in the nation, according to a report by the online
publication Business Journals using a database from the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

TPI is defined as the income received by all people from all sources in a given year.
It covers everything from employment wages to Social Security and welfare payments.
