Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

The Commerce Department reported that U.S. retail sales increased were $380.9
billion in December, an increase of 0.6 percent (±0.5%) from November and 7.9
percent (±0.7%) above December 2009.

Increases were seen in motor vehicles and pat dealers, furniture and home
furnishings,Building materials and garden supplies, health and personal care,
sporting goods, hobby, book and music stores

Declines were seen in electronics and appliances, food and beverage, clothing
and clothing accessories and general merchandise stores.
