CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Health & Well- Being 03-03-10
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
It appears that if you want to be happy, live in California. The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index ranked the Best Cities for health and well-being in the nation.
The ranking is based upon several categories including, Life Evaluation (Evaluation of current life quality and anticipated quality in five years) Emotional Health (Composite of daily emotions) Physical Health (Overall health, sick days, pain, energy, disease) Healthy Behavior (Healthy lifestyles, diet, exercise) Work Environment (Job satisfaction, relationships, environment) Basic Access (Access to food, shelter, healthcare and satisfying place to live).
Top 10 Cities 1. Boulder, CO 2. Holland, Michigan 3. Honolulu, Hawaii 4. Provo, Utah 5. Santa Rosa, CA 6. Santa Barbara, CA 7. San Jose, CA 8. Washington, D.C. 9. Ogden, Utah 10. Oxnard, CA
It appears that California owns this list however, it doesn’t make sense why California as a state finished 19th, (see 03-02-10 Minute) maybe it is because it is off setting, the cities from the state on the Forbes.com ‘Most Miserable Cities’ (see 02-22-10 Minute). But one thing can be said from this ranking, if you want to ensure you are happy you should live on the west coast.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
