CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE California Confidence 01-18-10
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The California Employee Confidence Index increased by 5.7 points to 48.6 in November, according to the latest Spherion Employment Report according to the monthly survey of California workers, conducted by Harris Interactive.
The survey showcases a spike in optimism among workers primarily due to an increase in confidence in the economy and job availability. Another significant change highlighted in this report is that nearly half (49 percent) of all California workers are likely to look for a new job in the next 12 months.
Results from the California Employment Report:
• Fewer workers believe the economy is getting weaker, specifically, 32 percent versus 42 percent in October
• Sixty percent of workers believe there are fewer jobs available in November, a decrease of 14 percentage points from the previous month
• In November, more workers (49 percent) are likely to look for a new job, showing an increase of eight percentage points from October
